One of the authors with a copy of the book
Signing books is hard work
The co-authors has to sign as well, ofcourse!
Eindhoven Museum has always been a magical place for us.
To be there again felt like coming home.
Here I am sitting beside a late medieval Noble Lady.
The company of friends and good food.
Could life be any better?
When we did demonstrations in the museum,
we never got around to take pictures in the 15th century Inn.
So this time as visitors we took our chance!
Unfortanetly the book is only available in Dutch (for now). If you can read dutch it's definitely worth to buy it. Although the recipes and obtained flavours are authentic, they are simple and clear. And without the hard-to-find ingredients most other medieval recipes have.
You can find the book ; De Smaak van de middeleeuwen, bourgondisch banquette voor beginners, here.
The book looks interesting! I bet I could translate enough of the Dutch using Google Translate to use it. And it's inexpensive, too (bet the postage to the US costs more than the book). Thanks for posting about this--I may well buy a copy.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say thank you for the gift or your wonderful site. You have been an inspiration! I am attending an event tomorrow in which I will be wearing an antique dress--there will only be a small handful of people in historical dress at this very large gathering...I'm a little nervous and not 100 percent sure of the fit. Finishing touches go on my hat this afternoon so I appreciate your detailed posts of your adventures--very helpful!
ReplyDelete@Cathy Raymond, there are two recipes on the website. Did you try and google translate those?
ReplyDeleteI made the almond cake from the cookbook and it turned out great. I wanted to make a picture for my blog but it was gone before I knew it. I guess I'll just have to try again!
You could mail the publishers about a shipping quote. The writers would surely get a kick knowing that someone from outside the Netherlands is interested.
@Michele Thank you for your note. The blog started out as a way for me to keep track of my projects, research and progress. It warms my heart to know that people take the time to read it and even find inspiration in it. I hope you had a wonderful time at the gathering you went to and I would love to see pictures of you in your outfit!
