Dag van het Park, Capelle aan de IJssel

Last year we did the same event, and it was supposed to be a one time thing. But it never really got of the ground due to the bad weather. As the organisation liked what they saw. Theydecided to try again this year. At the start, this event looked rather gloomy. As it was once again cold, with a lot of wind and (a little bit) wet. But luckily for all, the weather became great around noon. And we had a lot of visitors!

Edwardian Silver Marcasite Cameo Pendant / Brooch

I have been in love with Cameo brooches and pendants since I was little. But untill recently I could never find one that I liked and could afford. I purchased this one on Ebay a little while ago and it came in yesterday. It goes very well with silver edwardian (style?) and marcasite earrings, bracelet and ring that I have. I will wear it with my Purple Edwardian Costume later this year.

Currently I am working on a viking costume(undertunic, tunic, apron dress and shawl) for the daughter of a friend. I will post pictures of it after Whitsun. When this costume is finished I can resume working on a 50's style dress that I was working on. But what I really would like to do is start working on my Edwardian blouse.

Coming sunday we will have our only medieval event of the year. Although I love doing early medieval/viking re-enactment, I miss doing medieval events. And with that the "excuse" to make medieval costumes. It makes no sense making them, when you don't get a chance to wear it....

The Borger Hunebed Centre

The weather was not really good but not really bad either. The company however was great! Yesterday we had a lovely time at the
The Borger Hunebed Centre with our vikingfriends and family! My little sister came to see us with her boyfriend. A uncle and aunt of my husband came by as well.

The reconstructed iron age house at the site.

No she's not mine, she's only borrowed but isn't she cute as a button!

My brother-in-law getting archery lessons.

I always love to wear historical costumes at historical sites...

My sister made this lovely picture of the three of us!

Edwardian Costume

Here a picture of the complete costume worn with fur collar and muff. The collar was a gift of an aunt from my husband. She used to wear it in the 1960's and 70's. The muff was bought second hand on-line.

Adventures in hat making: part 11, Edwardian hat finished!

Black wool felt, large brimmed edwardian hat. Decoration: double bow and inside lining are made of bordeaux colored silk. Brim edging is a black satin ribbon. Black marabou feathers, one large black osterich feather and a black feather rose. The brim has a curve but that doesn't show when hat when the hat is lying down.

The pattern I used is the Universal Round brimmed, Straight Sided Crown Hat Pattern from Lynn McMasters

My cat impersonating a hat. Or reminding me that she is much more beautiful and cuter than a hat.

You will have to wait at least until the weekend before I can post a picture of me wearing it with my costume. Sorry!
